The Commission

Day 1: Flee and Pursue

Reading: 1 Timothy 6:11-12

Devotional:
The Christian life is not passive. Paul calls Timothy to active movement in two directions simultaneously -- away from the corrupting pull of worldly desires, and toward the virtues that reflect the character of God. Righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness are not qualities we stumble into by accident. They are qualities we run after with intention and discipline. Ask yourself today: what are you running toward? What are you running away from? The gospel demands both. You cannot pursue God halfheartedly. Commit today to laying aside every distraction and pressing forward into a deeper walk with Christ.

Day 2: The Good Confession

Reading: Acts 9:1-20

Devotional: Paul was a man utterly transformed by an encounter with the risen Christ on the road to Damascus. That encounter did not merely change his behavior -- it reoriented the entire direction of his life. Timothy, too, made a good confession before many witnesses. Every believer has a moment of confession, a turning point where faith becomes personal and public. Consider your own confession of faith. Has it remained the driving force of your life, or has it faded into the background of daily routine? Let the memory of your own turning point renew your passion for the gospel today and fuel your commitment to walk faithfully with Christ.

Day 3: The Source of All Life

Reading: John 1:1-14

Devotional: God is not merely a participant in life -- He is its origin and sustainer. Every blade of grass, every breath drawn, every heartbeat is evidence of His creative and sustaining power. John describes Christ as the Word made flesh, the unapproachable light of God made visible and accessible to humanity. This is the miracle at the heart of the gospel. The God who dwells in light that no one can approach chose to step into our darkness so that we might step into His light. Today, rest in the reality that the same God who sustains all creation is personally invested in sustaining your faith, your hope, and your life.

Day 4: Fight the Noble Fight

Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Devotional: Endurance is not glamorous. It rarely receives applause. But Paul, writing near the end of his life, speaks of having fought the good fight and finished the race with deep satisfaction. The commission God gives us is not a sprint -- it is a long journey that requires perseverance through difficulty, misunderstanding, and weariness. Many abandon the faith not because of a dramatic crisis but because they simply stop enduring. They give up too soon. Today, wherever you find yourself in the journey, choose to hold on. God honors faithfulness. The same Christ who stood firm before Pontius Pilate stands with you now, giving you strength to endure.

Day 5: Honor, Might, and the Coming King

Reading: Revelation 19:11-16

Devotional: Paul's meditation on the majesty of God erupts into a spontaneous doxology -- a burst of praise that cannot be contained by theological argument alone. The King of kings and Lord of lords is coming again, on His own timetable, in unapproachable glory. This truth is not meant to make us passive speculators but active ambassadors. We are not called to calculate the hour of His return. We are called to be found faithful when He arrives. Let the certainty of Christ's coming reshape your priorities today. Share the gospel with someone. Live above reproach. Guard the commission entrusted to you. To God alone be honor and might forever.
