Reading: Luke 15:11-24
Devotional: The most stunning detail in Jesus' parable is that the father ran. In ancient Middle Eastern culture, dignified men did not run—it was considered undignified and shameful. Yet this father hiked up his robes and sprinted toward his returning son. This is the heart of our Heavenly Father. He doesn't wait with crossed arms, ready to lecture us about our failures. Instead, He runs toward us with compassion, eager to restore us before we can even finish our confession. Your past doesn't disqualify you from His embrace. Whatever distant country you've wandered into, whatever you've squandered, the Father is watching for your return. And when you take that first step homeward, He will run to meet you with open arms, covering your shame with His grace.
