Charles Spurgeon, an English pastor and preacher of the 19th-century, wrote many sermons and books on a myriad of topics. His book Spiritual Revival the Want of the Church, addresses the want (lack) of true and deep revival in the lives of individual Christians as well as in the Church as a whole. In this quote from that work, Spurgeon convicts us of having nothing of lasting value to offer those who might listen in on our private conversations.

When we go to each other’s houses, what will we talk about? I have concluded this: you will not know how to get to heaven simply by eavesdropping on the conversations of the members of the Church!
